How to Apply for Leave in greytHR (Employee Self-Service)
Applying for leave in greytHR takes under a minute from the Employee Self-Service (ESS) portal or mobile app — greytHR automatically checks your leave balance and routes the request to your manager for approval. This guide walks through applying for leave step by step, checking your balance, and withdrawing a leave request. Open Leave > Leave Apply: Log in to your greytHR ESS portal and, from the menu, click Leave, then Leave Apply. The Leave Apply page opens on the Apply tab.
On the mobile app, open Leave and tap Apply

Select the leave type: From the Leave type dropdown, choose the relevant type — for example Casual Leave, Sick Leave, Earned/Privilege Leave, or any custom type your company has configured.

Choose your dates and sessions: Select the From date and To date from the calendars and choose the session (full day, first half, second half) for each. greytHR calculates the number of leave days automatically.

Confirm approver and add CC: The "Applying to" box auto-fills your reporting manager. You can also search and select a different approver, and click the Add (+) icon to CC colleagues who should be notified of your leave.

Enter reason, contact and stand-in: Type your contact number and a reason for the leave. Attach any supporting file if required, and in the Stand-in Employee box enter the colleague who will cover your work while you are away.

Submit and track approval: Click Submit to send the request to your manager. You can track its status, and withdraw or cancel a pending or approved leave, from the Leave section of the ESS portal.

Go to the Leave section of the ESS portal, open the relevant application, and choose to withdraw or cancel it. Withdrawing an approved-but-unused leave credits the days back to your balance.
