How to Mark Attendance in greytHR (Sign In/Out & Regularization)
greytHR lets employees mark their own attendance with a single click — from the ESS portal, the mobile app with a selfie, or automatically within an office geofence. And if you forget to sign in or out, you can apply for attendance regularization so it does not affect your payroll. This guide covers marking attendance and regularizing gaps step by step. National IT Service is an authorised greytHR partner that sets up attendance policies, biometric and geofence capture for Indian businesses.
Sign in from the ESS home page: On the greytHR ESS portal home page, find the Date widget. Click the Sign In button to mark your attendance for the day, and click Sign Out when you finish for the day.
Sign in at the start and sign out at the end of your shift
Your worked hours are calculated from these timestamps
Mark attendance on the mobile app (selfie): With Manual Mobile Sign In, open the greytHR Employee Portal app and tap sign-in — the app captures a selfie using your camera and sends it to your manager for verification.
Allow camera permission for selfie sign-in
Useful for field staff and work-from-home teams
Use geofence attendance: If your company uses Geofence, greytHR captures your attendance automatically when you sign in from a location the organisation has predefined (by latitude and longitude), such as your office or site.
Enable location/GPS on your phone
Geofence prevents sign-ins from outside approved locations
View your attendance record: Go to Attendance > Attendance Info in the ESS portal to see your daily sign-in/out times, worked hours, and any missed swipes or penalties flagged by policy.
Review your record before payroll cut-off each month
Spot missed swipes early so you can regularize them
Apply for attendance regularization: To fix a missed or wrong entry, go to Attendance > Attendance Info > My Regularizations. On the Apply tab, select the date(s) from the calendar, use Jump To to open a date, enter the Reason and any Remarks, then click Submit. The request goes to your manager.
Regularize promptly — some companies limit backdated requests
Give a clear reason (e.g. client visit, biometric failure)
Track approval and penalties: Regularization helps you negotiate penalties applied for late-in/early-out, half-day/full-day shortfalls, minimum-hours-not-met, or swipes-not-recorded — all subject to your manager's approval and company policy.
You are notified when the manager approves or rejects
Approved regularization removes the related attendance penalty
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I mark attendance in greytHR?
On the ESS home page, use the Sign In and Sign Out buttons in the Date widget. On the mobile app you can sign in with a selfie (Manual Mobile Sign In), and if your company uses Geofence, attendance is captured automatically inside approved office locations.
How do I regularize attendance in greytHR if I forgot to sign in?
Go to Attendance > Attendance Info > My Regularizations, open the Apply tab, select the affected dates, enter a reason and remarks, and click Submit. Your manager reviews and approves the regularization.
What is geofence attendance in greytHR?
Geofence attendance captures an employee's sign-in only when they are physically within a location the company has predefined by latitude and longitude — for example the office or a project site — preventing remote or proxy sign-ins.
Why was I penalized for attendance in greytHR?
Penalties can apply for late-in/early-out, not meeting half-day or full-day hours, minimum-hours-not-met, or swipes not recorded, as per your company policy. You can apply for regularization to have a genuine case reviewed and the penalty waived on approval.
